Instructor Office Hours

During my office hours, I am happy to answer any questions about the course that you may have, ranging from logistics, to high-level questions about course content, to carefully walking through coding examples or exercises, to offering advice about other courses and opportunities to expand your CS knowledge. Since they fall at two different points in the week, my two office hours blocks tend to have different “flavors”.

Tuesday: Being closer to the Wednesday assignment deadlines, these office hours tend to have a lot more assignment clarification questions, debugging help, etc.

Friday: Being at the end of the week, these office hours typically center more on reviewing the topics from that week’s lectures and discussion; think of them as a third, small-group review lecture.

Of course, any questions are welcome during either office hours, but I’ll try to prioritize questions according to the above descriptions.

My office hours are intended to be a small-group setting. If you have a personal matter that you wish to discuss privately, please email me to arrange an individual meeting. In your email, please include your availability over the next week so we can coordinate a time.

TA Office Hours

TA office hours are open to all students in the course; you are not limited to attend the office hours of your discussion leaders. TA office hours are a great time to ask clarifying questions about course material (e.g., about lectures, lecture note exercises, or discussion activities) and get help when you are stuck on an assignment. Since office hours can get quite busy, especially around assignment deadlines and in the weeks before exams, the TAs may need to limit the amount of individual help they can offer in one session; it is best if you are prepared with specific questions to most effectively use this time. You may be asked to work independently while you “rejoin the queue” to receive more help.

Below you can find the weekly office hours schedule for the TAs. Occasional staffing changing may occur, but you can expect that office hours will take place at all times listed here unless a pinned post is made on Ed.
